Our client manufactures and installs radio frequency safe rooms on a nationwide basis. They were experiencing high turnover level within their installation group. Their challenge was in identifying "best-fit" candidates who could learn the job, endure the challenges of the position, cope with extensive travel requirements and be committed to the company. The turnover rate for this position was 35% annually.
Solution: EC Associates evaluated the performance of successful installers by using the Benchmark Best report. After defining the behaviors and competencies of top performers already in the position, EC Associates developed a hiring template for evaluating job applicants. PreCheck reports are now utilized as part of the hiring process to assess new job applicants.
To date, twenty-three "final stage" applicants have taken the assessment. Sixteen of these applicants have been hired. Five were eliminated from consideration based on the assessment results; two were offered the position but declined. Fourteen are still with the company and have achieved good, very good or outstanding rankings from the management staff. One individual who left the company took a position which required no travel. Review of his assessment results his score indicated his willingness to travel was considerably lower than the rest of the group. The other person who left could not handle the job physically.
